I have started a Tumblr. Its easier for me to use and I can repost things from other people and follow people without having to go to twenty thousand different sites. Its all right there on one page for me.
I don’t know if I’ll still use this blog or not.
My Tumblr site is:

I started following this blog called books, paper, scissors that my friend shared with me. Its pretty neat, about a lot of eclectic things that are interesting and inspiring.
That blog posted this picture and I was very intrigued by it.

It is a DIY craft for making push pins out of old branches. This is the website it came from. I’m pretty sure I’m going to make these pretty soon. I just need to find the right branches to use for it and get the materials needed. I’ll have to make a cute framed bulletin board like this one, even though I alreay have one.

It is just too cute to pass up.

The other day at work, there was a Farmer’s Market in the parking lot and one of my coworkers went out there and had a free sample of Cherry Pomegranate juice. I told him I was bored and asked him what I should write a story about. He said about Cherry Pomegranate juice. So this is what I wrote:
“It was a sunny Friday afternoon. The sky was clear that day, the birds were singing, and the sun was just starting to think about continuing its road trip around the world. Everyone around was cheery and happy about life. Children were running around chasing each other in all of the excitement, couples were walking around entwined in each other’s arms. I wasn’t here because I wanted to be, it just happened to take place right in front of my workplace. I couldn’t help but to walk across the lot and take a look around. There were booths of many types. Some selling fresh, crisp vegetables while others had plump, juicy fruits. I walked past one table displaying some type of juice. They were giving out free samples. How could I say no to a free sample? It was Cherry Pomegranate Juice. I wasn’t one much for the taste of cherries but, like I said, It was free. The lady handed me a small plastic cup filled with the juice. It was a deep red color that reminded me of my father. He was a fan of hunting, always watching movies about the kill. His favorites were The Deer Hunter and Saving Private Ryan. He was a Vietnam veteran and, though it had been many many years since the war, still insisted on wearing his old army-issued jacket that was now bloodstained, tattered & worn from its excessive use, and always smelled of old leather, cigars, and whisky. I think he still wears it as a reminder of what went down there. He was a rough man, but he had a big heart and I never got tired of the way he told his stories from the war, always with a perfect understanding of what the situation had been and a sorrowful passion for those who lost their lives, on either side of the war. You could hear in his voice how deeply affected he was by the way they had treated the Viet Cong. It was this passion and yearning for forgiveness from his enemy that I admired about my father. I’m not sure why, but for some reason this small cup of juice reminded me of him. I lifted the cup up to my lips and drank its content. It wasn’t so bad. I spent the rest of the day at my father’s house listening to the same war stories he has told me over and over again.”
None of the characters is this story are based on actual people.

The other day I spent about $75 on music at the iTunes store online. I purchased every Radiohead album and purchased the remaining few Iron & Wine albums I needed to complete my collection. I have been listening to these CDs nonstop for the past few weeks now. They are all good!
Sadly, right after purchasing these, I found a couple of design book sets that I would really like to get as well, but I suppose I’ll have to wait until I have some extra cash set aside for it. Now that I won’t have a steady job, I’ll need to keep an eye on my spending, though this purchase will be rewarding later. I would like to get these sets of books by Jim Krause:

“Designer’s Complete Index” $37.79

“Design Essentials Index” $37.79
Maybe they will just magically appear at my house one day. Yeah… right.

There was a contest that Thrice put on for fans to submit t-shirt designs for their upcoming town in summer. I submitted a design. This is what it looks like. I like it, but we’ll see what happens. If they don’t use it, I can take the same idea and make my own design with it.

In June of 2008, I started my job at Staples and a Copy and Print Center Sales Associate. Now, nearly two years later, I’m still barley making $8.85 per hour working 16 hours a week being bored out of my mind. I’ve been out of college with a degree for 4 months now. Why do I still have this job? Thats exactly what I asked myself. You know what the answer is? There is no reason why I still have this job.
And so I put my two week notice in. I will no longer be making your copies, folding your flyers, or stuffing you envelopes as of May 14th. This will be most exciting. I’ll be free from the chains of that drab place. Sure, I’ll miss everyone there and I’ll have to stop by to chat and to buy ink & paper, but I wont have to stay there longer than needed ever again. I will be so happy to have my saturdays back and to be able to spend them however I want and not sitting at the slow-poke computer for 8 hours just a hopin’ and a wishin’ for someone to come in an place an order.
Freedom will feel nice
Not to mention that my last day happens to also be our party for “Founder’s Day” so we are all going to dress up as something and have lots of food while we are at work. It will be most entertaining. A great way to end my relationship with Staples.

Austin, Texas. I spent the week there last week (Friday April 2nd to Thursday April 8th) there with Jayme visiting my sister Chrissy and her husband David. It was a great vacation. I really needed to get away from all of my work for a little while. The week before we came out, they actually flew out here. David had to come for work so, as usual, Chrissy came out as well. They had some lovely news to share with us. I’m going to be an aunt again in November. Its very exciting. So since they came out here, we all flew back to Texas together. It was a long day getting up at 4am for a 7am flight.
The trip was fun. We had BBQ from Rudy’s on friday after we got home from the airport. Delicious food, great cream corn.
The next day we got up a little early as Chrissy and David had an appointment to look at some houses they may want to buy. The first house we went to they had seen before but wanted another look. It was a winner. They didn’t really need to see any more houses but we did anyway just to make sure. The decided to buy that first one. It was a great choice.
I cant remember every detail of what we did because I have terrible memory but I really doubt you’d want to hear everything.
We had a lot of food while we were there. Lots of BBQ and Tex Mex. We went to a lovely Easter service on saturday. on Easter we went to see How To Train Your Dragon in 3D (great movie:)) We took a Duck Tour, which consists of a ride in a land/lake vehicle and whistles that make a quacking noise, for a chance see some of the main attractions of Austin. Jayme got to go to the Bass Exchange for a while. We walked up and down 6th St and listened to some Live music and the bars there. Stopped at a Dueling Piano bar called Pete’s one night. Very entertaining bar, it was. Two piano players playing songs back and forth while trying to win your tips. It was fun. There were two soldiers there that night so they did some songs in their honor. It was great. The trip included the enjoyments of being lazy, napping, and playing with Jack the dog. Chrissy and David had their first Dr. appointment for Baby Mitz while we were visiting. We watched a lot of Flight of the Concords too.
Austin is quite a beautiful place. There is so much green there its crazy and the Blue Bonnets were in bloom. Ostentatious Austin. A lot of locals pulled off to the side of the road to take easter pictures in the flowers. It was pretty odd driving up the street and seeing people doing that. Bad for the flowers, a lot of them ended up getting smashed.
It was the perfect vacation.

I’m not sure if I have mentioned it before, but one thing that I have been blessed with is having the opportunity to work with the people at Discovery Church doing design work. Although I only volunteer, I am so thankful to use my talents here.
In March, DC started planning an Easter event that would be open to the entire Simi Valley/Moorpark/ThousandOaks area and would allow thousands of people to attend this one event. Originally they had planned on having a Helicopter Egg Drop event, which consisted of a helicopter dropping over 20,000 eggs into a football field at a local high school. We spent probably a good 3 weeks planning the even out and designing tickets, shirts, ad space, bags, and flags for this event. After we had the event almost completely planned out, DC found out that the event would not happen because the city could not allow any aircraft to fly over the school campus. After finding this out, we had maybe a week and a half to plan out what they would do with 20k eggs and a football field. We then started planning out a Giant Egg Hunt to replace the Helicopter Egg Drop. Within a week we had to redo all of the design work that we had done before. It took quite a bit of effort but we managed to get everything done with little time to spare.
Unfortunately I was out of town for the event and was not able to see all of the completed design work come together in this one event. I was told that the turn out was amazing. Over 4000 people turned out for the event. 3500 of those people stayed for the Easter Service that was help in the football stadium after the egg hunt. Many people came forward and nearly 30 people were baptized that day. Now, I’m no expert but I would have to say that it was indeed an amazing turn out.
Isn’t that amazing?
I found this picutres on The Simi Valley’s Acorn website:

Yeah! 4/20 is coming up on Tuesday!! Guess what that means?!
Time to Celebrate my and my twin’s birth, duh!
Oh, you though I meant something else? Oh thats too bad. Yeah, I know. What a waste having my birthday on 4/20 and not even being a pot smoker. aw shucks.
So what do I want for my 22nd birthday? Well, I’ll tell ya. I would like:
-to have my loans to be payed off
-to take two-week trip to Alaska
-a blue or white Mazda 3
-a new camera with a nice set of lenses
Yeah. A little expensive, huh? I’ve noticed the past couple of years that what I really want for my birthday are more like small future goals rather than tasteful gifts. There aren’t manny things that I want anymore. Now that I have my own money to spend, if there is something small that I want, I’ll just go out and get it, and thats not usually often. So when it comes time for gift giving, there isn’t much left.
The best gift that I could ever ask for is honestly, just to have a good time being with the people I love and care about. Its much more important to me to have those people around me than it is to have material possessions.
So for my birthday, just give me your love.
But if you must insist and have not won the lottery recently, I wouldn’t object to iTunes cards or Regal/Muvico cards.

I find it difficult that some people don’t seem to understand that true beauty is not perfection. The little flaws are what make each of us beautiful and distinguished from one another. Would a perfectly smooth face be nearly as interesting as one with uneven lines? I’d find a perfect face too boring to look at. It is much more interesting to take notice of the little details that give away our imperfections. Those natural impurities keep us in reality and away from the nightmare of “perfect beauty”. Haven’t you noticed that airbrushed people look odd, those perfect facial features are too straight and even and truly make a person look stiff and unreal. Maybe its just my job to find details that are intriguing but can’t you find at least one detail in any person’s face you find attractive? Like the crooked line of the nose or a defining little mark or indent in the skin? An out of place freckle in the eye or an uneven slant in the brow line?
Love & Peace
